Overview

This recipe was introduced to me in my beverages class, and I was surprised how close it tasted to the Oatly low fat oat milk. The flavor was simple but surprisingly good. This recipe and its easy process make it great for those looking for a healthier alternative to milk

Recipe

Ingredients

  • Raw cashews

  • Unsweetened coconut flakes

  • Rolled oats

  • Medjool dates

  • Sea salt

  • Water

Additions

  • I used Coconut Syrup to draw out a sweeter coconut taste

  • I added Ferrara instant expresso coffee to a cup of milk

Blending Process

What I Liked

  • The process of making the recipe was simple

  • The ingredients were easily accessible

  • Since this is a blended mixture/drink, you can adjust it to your liking

What I would Improve

  • I would recommend making a double batch as this recipe makes 7 servings

  • If you want to make this recipe sweeter add another medjool date or honey

  • Strain the mixture at least twice so that you can get all the grainy bits out

Final Thoughts

Overall, I thought this recipe was very cool. I liked how the recipe is set up originally to taste like the Oatly low fat oat milk. Although most of the prep time was based on waiting for the cashews to soak, it was a quick and fun recipe. I recommend trying this recipe if you want to try something new.
